Age of Conan - Interview with the New Director DateTime:7/21/2009 11:56:42 AM
Funcom got off to a strong start earlier this year with the launch of Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures, its big-budget MMO. The launch window was planned in part to give it a head start over the arrival of its two biggest competitors, EA's Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning and Blizzard's World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King.
Let's start off with more general questions. You recently took over as game director at Funcom after longtime employee Gaute Godager left the company. How's the transition been and have you made any major changes to the way things work? Is there a new focus or direction?
I think the transition has been quite smooth. I have been in the company some time and already knew the majority of team so there wasn't any sweeping changes as it were. There was going to be a natural transition anyway as the developers moved from production of a launch title to getting set up for ongoing development which has different considerations as it is. Given my background with a live MMO, I think I was able to help that process along for sure, but we haven't radically changed anything in that regard. In terms of direction, I usually look at things in a very straightforward way. Craig Morrison answered .
